PROJECT #18: PHOTOGRAPHIC MOSAIC

DIRECTIONS: 

*For this project, it is probably best to remain in ONE spot while turning your camera on it's horizontal and vertical axis points to record the subject you have chosen. It's that simple.

1. Make a minimum of TEN photos on one subject.

2. In Photoshop, create a NEW CANVAS with the following dimensions:

10 inches WIDTH

10 inches HEIGHT

300 RESOLUTION

Background color: WHITE -or- BLACK

(If you need extra canvas space later, you can "IMAGE+CANVAS SIZE" to adjust the dimensions)

3. Using the MOVE tool, and "EDIT+TRANSFORMING+SIZE," piece-together a mosaic of your subject matter.

NOTES: 

A. You can have empty space on the outer edges of the mosaic.

B. When you take the photos, think about getting SLIGHTLY closer to/away from your subject so that the images play with perspective and size.

HOMEWORK: Choose THREE different subjects/places to photograph. Bring back TEN or more images with which to make a photographic mosaic for each.

PROJECT #17: INFRARED

What is it?  Infrared photography is the technique of capturing light not visible to the naked eye.  Infrared (IR) light lies right between the visible spectrum and radio waves.

PROCESS:
1. Duplicate the background layer.
2. On that duplicate background layer IMAGE+ADJUSTMENTS+INVERT it.
3. Change the BLENDING MODE of that new duplicate layer to COLOR.
4. Create a NEW ADJUSTMENT LAYER + CHANNEL MIXER.
5. Adjust the CHANNEL MIXER levels to the following:

RED CHANNEL: 

RED=0

GREEN=0

BLUE=100

BLUE CHANNEL:

RED=100

GREEN=0

BLUE=0

GREEN CHANNEL:

RED=0

GREEN=100

BLUE=0
*These are the basics. Adjust levels as necessary for your individual photographs

6. Add an IMAGE+ADJUSTMENTS+PHOTO FILTER to enhance your photo to your preferences.

1. Make the appropriate number of photographs needed.

2. Load to computer and open in Photoshop.

3. Create a "Mini-Me" or a "Super-Size Me" image.

4. Post to blog.

Hints:

-Be mindful of the direction of the light so that the shadow you create is believable and falls on the correct surface(s).

-Use various LASSO/SELECTION tools to precisely select yourself.

-Use the BURN tool under/around your figure to make the figure believably resting/standing/etc. on the surface.

-Use additional LAYER(s) as necessary to create a believable shadow.

-BLUR the shadow as necessary to match the light in setting.
