PROJECT #13: SABATTIER (Solarization) EFFECT

A quick, one-class-period exploration in an old darkroom technique for creating an oddly developed image.



DIRECTIONS: Take your photos through the sabattier process described below. Post 15 to your blog.

HOW TO:
1. Open photo in Photoshop
2. open IMAGE + ADJUSTMENTS + CURVES menu
3. In the histogram window that appears create a slightly off centered "U" curve:


4. Adjust the curve to your preference to create the sabattier effect.
5. A "W" curve in the histogram can create a similar effect.
6. Explore the possiblities.
7. Post 15 to your blog.
