1. Develop & assemble your triptych.
2. Post to your blog following the directions below.
3. Answer/write your symbolism meaning.
4. Answer/write your artist statement (directions below).
5. Drop your FINAL TRIPTYCH to the folder on the Drive.
6. Drop your best 20 images from the semester to the "PORTFOLIO" folder on the drive (include at least one photo from EVERY project).
FIRST, THE POST ON YOUR BLOG:
1. Title the post "FINAL SELF PORTRAIT TRIPTYCH"
2. Your blog post needs to be in the this order:
- -The three individual images w/symbolism explained underneath each photo.
- -The triptych
- -Artist Statement (from the 40 questions below)
List all the symbolic subject matter under each photo, and tell what you intended it to represent.
Remember: In addition to actual objects/places/etc., things like focus, lighting, spacing, composition can all be symbolic.
INCLUDE FOR EACH SYMBOL:
A. Explain WHY you chose that piece of symbolism.
B. Write what you INTEND for the viewer to 'see' in the symbol.
Example of how to write this on your blog post:
Make-up on my face = This symbolizes...Broken bicycle = I included this in the photograph to symbolize...
Apple = The apple is used in this way to represent ________ about my life/self...
The bubble = this represents fragility, and is meant to convey a feeling of...
Me, Out of focus = this represents the times I'm feeling unsure about myself and...
ARTIST STATEMENT ABOUT YOUR SELF TRIPTYCH
From the 40 questions below, choose TWO questions from each category to answer.
Your answers should be thorough, and leave nothing to the imagination. Assume you are explaining your self-portraits to someone who cannot see them. What would you say? How would you describe your photos' meaning? Your responses can be straight-forward answering of the questions, but...you can also compose/write your answers into paragraphs that, when read as a whole, include the spirit and response to each question you choose.
